April 30, 2003 - Mali - Nairobi
40 year old Chris was following in the footsteps of Mungo Park to mark the bicentennial of Park’s last trip to find the source of the River Niger. Chris left UK in February 2003 for The Gambia and planned to travel through Senegal, Mali, Niger and Nigeria.
He took a camera to film his journey, supplied by a film company, and planned to write a book on his return in July 2003. He last made contact home on 23rd March 2003 when he found a working telephone near Kita in Mali and phoned to wish his parents ‘Happy Birthday’.
He failed to return home in July of that year as planned and his family and authorities have undergone extensive searches since. Chris is a seasoned traveller but his disappearance is very out of character.
He was last seen Outside Bamako, Mali but there have been recent sightings and information that place Chris in Nairobi.
Chris is 5ft 10" tall and has brown eyes. He has a mole on the back of his neck and a slightly broken nose.
